North Palm Beach, FL: Saturday, May 28th singles came from Ft. Lauderdale to Stuart to enjoy a night of food, entertainment and dancing. Sponsored by SingleTogether, the “Summer Celebration” was the second banquet of its kind this year. SingleTogether is a non-profit organization founded for the purpose of bringing single people together for activities and events, spiritual enrichment, and service to the community.
Every Friday they meet in various homes in Palm Beach County. They also meet for concerts, movies, outdoor activities and other events and activities. On the first Friday of every month, they take food, clothing and toiletries to a local homeless mission in Lake Worth, called Breakthrough Cafe, to serve and enjoy the company of others.
Co-founder, Rhonda Krill, said, “Our first event this year was held on Valentine’s Day, which can be a difficult day for singles. [tweet_dis]All holidays are potentially difficult days for single people, so instead of having a sad, lonely night, we[/tweet_dis] celebrated together with dinner, DJ, dancing and a hysterical emcee, who entertained us with jokes and parodies of 70’s songs re-written for singles.”
Although SingleTogether is open to all ages, the median age of most members is 40’s, 50’s and 60’s, most of whom are divorced.
Serving on the Board of the non-profit, SingleTogether in Christ, are Rhonda Krill, Stephanie Sawyer and Gaspare Colletti.
Some of the activities they engage in include:
- Kayak trips
- Bible Studies & prayer groups
- Dining out
There is also online communication available on their website at www.singletogether.com for people who participate in any of their activities. Members of the online community can create profiles, post status updates, like and comment on others’ posts and privately message other members.
They plan to begin planting chapters in other areas, probably going north to the Stuart area and will get together with that chapter on a periodic basis.
